The Haunting Echo

In a desolate cabin, Maria heard her own voice calling from the attic. “Maria, come up here.”

Confusion seized her; she was alone. Climbing the creaking stairs, dread clung to her like a second skin. In the dim attic, her reflection stood motionless, eyes vacant.

“Maria, join us,” it whispered.

Horrified, she realized her reflection didn’t mimic her actions. It lunged, grasping her wrists with icy fingers.

“Join us,” it hissed.

Maria’s scream echoed as the attic door slammed shut. She was never seen again, but her voice haunted the cabin, luring others to join her in the attic’s dark embrace.
