The Crystal of Eldoria
March 1, 2025
The cavern stretched endlessly beneath the ancient ruins, its walls shimmering with veins of silver and quartz. Ethan Cross ran his fingers along the rough stone, his heart pounding with anticipation.
“This has to be it,” he whispered.
Behind him, Sophia Reyes adjusted her pack. “You said that three caves ago.”
Ethan grinned. “But this time, I know I’m right.”
Legend spoke of the Crystal of Eldoria—a gemstone said to hold unimaginable power, hidden deep beneath the lost city. Many had searched for it. None had returned.
Sophia sighed. “Let’s just grab it and get out before—”
A distant growl echoed through the cavern.
She froze. “Please tell me that was your stomach.”
Ethan swallowed hard. “I don’t think we’re alone.”
They pressed forward cautiously, their torches casting flickering shadows. At last, they reached a massive chamber. In the center, resting atop an ornate pedestal, was the Crystal.
It pulsed with an inner light, its deep blue surface swirling like a frozen storm.
Sophia exhaled. “It’s beautiful.”
Ethan stepped closer, reaching out. “And it’s ours.”
The moment his fingers brushed the Crystal, the cavern trembled.
The walls cracked, revealing massive stone golems, their eyes glowing with the same eerie blue as the artifact. They moved with unnatural speed, blocking the exit.
Sophia cursed. “Of course it’s cursed. Why wouldn’t it be cursed?”
Ethan stuffed the Crystal into his bag. “Run now, complain later!”
The golems roared, their heavy steps shaking the ground as they charged. Ethan and Sophia darted between falling debris, dodging the creatures’ stone fists.
“The tunnel’s collapsing!” Sophia shouted.
Ahead, a narrow opening led back to the surface—but a golem stood in their way.
Ethan yanked the Crystal from his bag and hurled it at the creature’s feet.
The moment it left his hands, the golems froze.
The cavern grew eerily silent.
Sophia panted. “Tell me you didn’t just throw away our fortune.”
Ethan hesitated—then lunged forward, snatching the Crystal back.
The ground erupted beneath them.
“GO!”
They sprinted, dodging falling stalactites, leaping over widening cracks. Just as the tunnel caved in, they burst into daylight, rolling onto the grass.
The ruins behind them collapsed, sealing the cavern forever.
Sophia glared at Ethan. “We almost died.”
He held up the Crystal, grinning. “But we didn’t.”
She groaned. “I hate you.”
He chuckled, tossing the Crystal in the air before catching it. But as he did, a deep voice echoed through the wind—
“You cannot escape the fate of Eldoria.”
Ethan and Sophia exchanged a look.
Maybe this adventure wasn’t over yet.
